The above image is an excerpt from a video where this young man Safraz Shas was shot to death in the street of a major city in Pakistan sometime last week. I’ve included the link to the video (be forewarned, somewhat graphic) which shows Shas being shot three times with an FN FAL rifle, then begging for forgiveness before being left to die of his wounds. The sad truth is things like this happen; however this stands out because of the clarity and closeness of the footage and the perpetrators. Safraz Shas was killed by the Pakistani equivalent of the National Guard, and for reasons usually reserved for the LAPD. They claimed they shot him because of he was robbing people with a pistol, but he was unarmed at the time he was murdered which makes it an extra judicial killing regardless. I know you’re probably wondering how this pertains to you since shit like this is all you ever see in the news regarding all these middle eastern countries; but it’s important because Pakistan is supposed to be one of our closest allies in the Middle East in the War On Terror. Recently Pakistan has been showing its true colors since Osama Bin Laden got popped less than 20 miles away from a major city in massive compound. If you pay attention to the news, you’ll see that two other Al-Qaeda leaders have been killed in Pakistan just this month which begs the question; what is the point of providing a country which harbors terrorist leaders, murders its own citizens with impunity, and shows a pervasive disdain for the United States time and time again with 3 Billion dollars in military aid every year? Also you should know that typically whenever you hear about terrorists/Iran/North Korea getting nuclear weapons that the information on how to build such weapons is more than likely coming from Pakistan. This is because Pakistan is one of eight countries with nuclear weapons (the others being India, North Korea, Israel, Russia, US, France, and Britain) and has been implicated in the selling of nuclear weapons technology and material to Libya, North Korea, and Iran during a scandal in 2008. It seems to me and it should to you that we’re financing our own insecurity by providing monetary aid to a country which seems to have no intentions of truly aiding America’s interests beyond having our forces provide a buffer until India decides to invade them for financing, training, and supporting Islamic extremists in their country year after year. The modus operandi of geopolitical politics is dirty wars and even dirtier politicians, but let’s implores our powers-that-be to wash our hands of Pakistan while we still can. |
